The Vilafamés International Film Festival (FIV) starts its third edition next Monday with the first seven short films to be publicly screened. Over the week, 33 short films will be showcased, all part of the FIV Official Section. This edition of the film festival is the most equal yet, with 40% of the selected works directed by women.

Thus, the film competition has established itself in the international scene. Year after year, it breaks its own record of films received: this year, there were 1,170 submissions for a selection of 33. From Monday to Friday, starting at 10 PM in Plaça la Font de Vilafamés, the candidates for glory in the various award categories will be screened. A total of 430 minutes of screenings. The awards gala will be held on Saturday 29th at 10:30 PM in the same Plaça la Font, a key central space for the town's festivities.

Nationally renowned actors and actresses such as Enric Auquer, Ana Fernández, Luis Bermejo, Míriam Díaz-Aroca, Jesús Olmedo, Fele Martínez, Willy Toledo, and Salva Reina play decisive roles in the plots of some short films that will be seen next week in Vilafamés. As in previous years, some artists will visit Vilafamés during the upcoming weekend.

The popular actress and television presenter Míriam Díaz-Aroca will receive the Magnanimvs award in recognition of her extraordinary film and artistic career, following in the footsteps of Luisa Gavasa and Rosario Pardo, in 2023 and 2022 respectively. Thus, many local companies and entities have been involved in enhancing the dedicated awards. The tourism program 'Vilafamés, the Inner Gaze,' the Vilafamés Rural Bank, the ceramic companies Colorobbia and New Tiles, the MACVAC, the Equality Department of Vilafamés, and Magnanimvs itself sponsor the distinctions to be awarded on Saturday 29th.

Among the selected short films are 3 international and 4 provincial films, which will compete for the Best Provincial Short Film award. The awards chapter will also include Best Short Film, Best Actress, and Best Actor, as well as the Audience Award, which will be decided throughout the week in Vilafamés. As a novelty, this year the Award Against Gender-Based Violence, created through the mediation of the town's Equality Department, will be presented.
