Vilafamés is located in the Plana Alta region, 25 km away from Castelló via the CV-10 highway. It occupies a privileged position in the Sant Mateu-Vilafamés pre-coastal corridor, situated on a northern foothill of the Serra de les Conteses. The current appearance of the town is the result of its historical evolution from the Andalusian period to the present day. Two urban conceptions are noticeable in its development: the Andalusian, in the upper part, characterized by narrow and winding streets, and the Christian, with linear layouts.
The town boasts an important historical ensemble that has earned the declaration of Cultural Heritage of Interest by the Valencian Government, stating that "it is one of the most important historical-artistic ensembles in the Valencian Community due to its great beauty and high degree of conservation, as well as its scenic location where it integrates with its distinctive silhouette. It possesses a medieval layout adapted to its unique topography, where interesting vernacular architecture coexists alongside significant buildings of civil and religious Gothic and Baroque architecture."
A walled town within which important monuments are preserved, reflecting the splendor of past eras: the castle, the Church of the Sang, the Town Hall palace, the parish church, as well as numerous manor houses located on the main streets of the locality.
